Free iPods

Okay, so here’s the deal. I’ve been wanting an iPod for some time, especially for Navy life. You can’t beat having 5000+ songs at your fingertips when you’re on deployment out on a boat somewhere. Unfortunately, iPods run close to $300 or more.

I came across Jeff’s blog entry today talking about a way to get a free ipod. I was a bit curious and started researching and found out it’s pretty much on the up and up. There are some hitches naturally. I had to sign up – which I did with an email address I use for spam – participate in one of their 8 offers – which I also did by signing up for a dummy ebay account and bidding on an item that had 6 days of bidding left and that I knew I’d lose with my $1 bid. ;) The trick there is that I get the credit for signing up and bidding, not for winning.

The second part of the hitch was that I had to refer 5 friends. I
groaned at that one because that means those five people had
responsibilities too. Their responsibilities, as it turns out are more
limited unless they too want to get a free ipod. Your part in this is
that, if you’d oblige me, you sign up using this link. Please don’t use your primary email account, as I’m sure you’ll end up on a mailing list and I don’t want to be responsible for that. You can use any email account that is a non-free one (you can’t use hotmail or yahoo, but you can use a comcast, verizon, aol or any other email address) to sign in at freeipods.com. Then you have to complete one of their offers. Most of them require a credit card but the ebay one does not. Even the “Sign up for AOL” one is a free signup for the first month, during which point you can cancel your account and not be charged. When you do, I get credit for a referral and after five of
these, I get a free ipod.

Here’s the link http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=7286282

Let me offer the same thing Jeff did. Post your referral link here, and if you use mine above, then I’ll oblige you and you’ll only have to get 4 more referrals. How’s that for a deal?

I also want one but I guess I’d have to pay for it since I’m not in the US.

I wonder if anyone would be so nice as to give me his free iPod.

It doesn’t help that America’s strength has never been “in the streets” fighting. America is fantastic at anything that allows big guns, big tech and big armies to thrive.

But when it comes down to groups of 20 people fighting each other, the odds change very quickly.

You can’t simply bomb the insurgents out of Fallujah. You have to go house to house killing or capturing more insurgents than you create through your very actions.

I feel for the US commanders. They are losing the country slowly. They aren’t getting proper support at home. And their troops are tired.

Right now they are simply trying to do their best. The problem is that the only way for them to withdraw IS for an Iraqi security force to take their place, and so far that hasn’t proven very effective (high desertion rate).

Still, you’re there now and pulling out would be irresponsible and devastating. I just don’t see how this is salvageable, nevermind “winnable”.

There’s a big difference in what Lincoln and FDR did, in that they were dealing primarily with US citizens. It’s really not the same when you have enemy combatants, citizens of hostile nations, held as prisoners of war. Of course, since we don’t have a formal declaration of war on record against any of those nations, it’s difficult to consider them prisoners of war, but that’s not exactly a Constitutional issue.

There’s also this quote in the FAQ:

Some offers are “instant” which means that you will receive credit a few minutes after you have successfully completed the offer. Other offers may take up to 3 weeks to be credited to your account.

How do we know they’re not capturing our credit card information when we sign up on ebay?

I am sick and tired of seeing white people as the criminal, NYCSI has no Asian in it? if you want to be politically correct! And why is it always a black male or female doctor? In real life is mostly Asians, jews and Indians. I lost interest in the second show already. I am not sure about Miami either. CSI Las Vagas also has the same political correctness. Lets get more realistic on color factors. Yes, I am an minority.
