I’m Someone’s “Secret Mentorâ€
Well, this was quite a fascinating surprise. I recieved a message today from someone who shall, for his own piece of mind, remain anonymous. He is a mentor over at Sitepoint Forums who I, in my days as an Advisor, had voted to bring on board as a mentor.
Surprisingly, he held me in such high regard that he sent me this message:
Hi Aaron.
First I would like to thank you for beeing my secret “mentor”.
I’ll explain; I didn’t know much PHP when I first joined Sitepoint. I noticed you because of your knowledge (and your mentorship ) and you became an example/ideal for me both technically and the way you interacted with other members.
When I was appointed to mentorship at SP I was really insecure on how I should behave in my new role. So I continued to have you as my secret “mentor”. I’ve learned a lot from you and I hope you don’t mind that I’ve “followed you” closely.I regularly read your blog and I get a 404 when I want to read more about you. (http://www.technosailor.com/About/40/aaron-brazell).
I hope to still see you around but I understand that you have to prioritize your new job. I wish you and your familiy all the best.
Needless to say, I’ll be fixing the link, but in the meantime…..wow!!
**UPDATE**
My link is no longer fallen victim to the Wordpress upgrade. The new link is http://www.technosailor.com/Blog/202/aaron-brazell
