Disband the NBA

The NBA needs to be disbanded immediately. I like college basketball (Go Terps!) so it has nothing to do with the sport. It has to do with egos. It has to do with the “me” mentality that is prevalent. It has to do with more money in sponsorship than in gameplay. It has to do with players taking the hip-hop mentality of “niggers and hos”.

Last night, the disgrace continued but on a larger fashion. If you were watching the Pacers-Pistons game, you saw it happen. If you turned on the news today, you saw it. If you went on the internet today, you saw it. It was two Indiana players, Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson who brawled with taunting fans.

Now I don’t care who you are or how much money you make or what rap album you’re promoting (Ron Artest)… if you suit up in your pads, pick up a batters helmet, step out on the court or, lace up your skates you have NO right whatsoever to physically touch, fight or taunt fans. They pay your salary through ticket sales, memorabilia, etc. You are required to represent your team, your fellow players and yourself with the respect you demand.

See the NBA is all about egos. Look no further than the well-publicized bickering between Shaq and Kobe Bryant. Or what about the disgraceful representation of the United States by the “dream team” Men’s basketball team staffed by NBA players. Team USA could not win because they could not play as a team. Most of the top tier players turned down representing their country in the Olympics because there wasn’t anything in it for them.

As it standfs now, three Indiana players and one Detroit player are indefinitely suspended pending the outcome of the investigation of the incident on the floor. I say kick them out. I say kick all the players out. Let them go play in Puerto Rico or Europe and learn how to play basketball instead of playing photo opp.
