12/17/04 – Siebel buying Edocs

Siebel Systems on Friday announced a $115 million cash deal to acquire Edocs, a company focused on electronic-billing and customer self-service technology.

Steve’s take: Since large scale CRM demand has weakened with companies like SugarCRM and Salesforce.com, they are looking for ways to stay competitive andcross-sell those committed to the system. I also believe that front office integration will grow in importance to streamline functions and centralize data. This type of transaction intensive system they will grow their customr base in the telecommunications, credit cards and health care markets.
