A Shame that Tragedy is What Brings the World Together

The quake of Christmas day that has caused so much physical, and emotional turmoil in Asia is a profoundly sad disaster. Matt Drudge called it a ‘Biblical Disaster’.

It’s a tremndous thing to watch the world come to the aid of those who have lost families, property, etc in these Asian countries.

However, it is tremendously said that tragedy is what forecs the world to unite in a common goal.

From Agence-France Presse, here is the rundown of international aid.

  • Russa 25 Tons of Humanitarian aid already en route, a helicopter and rescue workers to Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
  • France to send 100 doctors, rescue specialists and communication experts to Sri Lanka.
  • Germany sending $1.35 million USD
  • Pakistan Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka
  • India Humanitarian Aid and 5 warships to Sri Lanka
  • Greece to send 6 tons of aid, doctors and rescue workers along with 150,000 Euros for Colombo and Madras
  • Australia offers an initial $7.6 million USD and drinking water to Malaysia
  • EU gave $4 million USD
  • Ireland $1.25 million USD
  • Kuwait $1 million USD
  • Britain sent 2 experts and pledged money to the World Health Organization
  • Canada $820,000 USD
  • Switzerland $6.6 million USD
  • Sweden sending experts to Thailand
  • U.S. Preparing to assist countries most devastated.
  • Japan sent an initial mmedical team of 20 to Sri Lanka
  • The Phillipines to send a small contingent of humanitarian workers.
  • Iran preparing to assist.
  • Turkey preparing to assist
