“How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb†Review
I can say it no better than Usman Haq. I have had my new U2 CD in repeat mode since Christmas and everyday, I love it more. Why? Usman points out some good points about how U2 gracefully tips their hat to their albums of years past and still beings out a new and edgier feel. I was not that into the Euro-dance style of recent years. In fact, Achtung Baby!” was probably the last U2 CD I would have stormed out to store to buy and that was 1991. The only reason I held off on doing so for this one is I believed it would be a Christmas gift, and I was right.
Some hat tips in the album (thanks to Usman and my own observations)…
1. Vertigo – Uno, Dos, Tres, Cartoce…. One, two, three, fourteen. A reference to fourteen albums. Vertigo also is a throwback to their first album (circa 1980).
2. Love and Peace or Else…. Come on… can’t you feel the Berlinesque industrial grunge from Acthung Baby!?
3. The extra guitar and melodic minor chords from War
4. Miracle Drug and City of Blinding Lights – Usman thinks sunny outlook from All That You Can’t Leave Behind. I’m feeling The Joshua Tree as well (Can you say “Where the Streets Have No Name”?) .

“Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?”

Sounds like an awesome opportunity that could open quite a few doors for you. Sometimes you just need to dive in head-first.
