On the Feedreader Bandwagon
So I was talking to Marc James over at Sports Central on MSN this evening. Marc and I go way back. Our conversations usually went like this:
Me: Hey Marc!
Marc: Hey Aaron
Me: Nice site you have there
Marc: Thanks, I try
Me: When are you going to upgrade to vBulletin 3?
Marc: When 2.x stops working
Me: You realize that vb3 is newer right? :)
Marc: Yeah but it does what I need
Me: But vb3 has so many more features
Marc: I’m not upgrading, period.
Me: Alrighty. Whatever
Heh. As stubborn as he is, he runs one of the hottest sports commentary sites on the internet and I commend him for that. He turns 19 today.
In my conversation today, discussion turned to feedreaders. They are all the craze among the uberbloggers, but I just hadn’t jumped on the bandwagon.
Basically, you add the RSS/RSD/Atom/XML feed to the feedreader and it consolidates all entries into a single email-client-like format. Gone are the days of clicking on every blog you ever might read. Now read them like you read your email.
I knew the benefits. I just never jumped on board. Until tonight. I downloaded Feedreader and began the task of importing feeds from every single blog on my blogroll. There are a number of blogs I read that do not provide feeds because of software limitations (Firewolf for one), or who have decided to not enable their RSS links (Carol!), etc. These blogs I will now have to go out of my way to read, so don’t blame me if I don’t. :p
At any rate, here’s what I’m looking like at the moment:

I thought you used Thunderbird for e-mail. TB has had RSS support for months now; that’s what I use (though my RSS list is only people who update too infrequently for me to care about visiting their site)
