One Week on the Job

As you all have noticed, my posting has been severely down in the past week. It has been a very busy week which has been the cause of the low posting. Much of that has to do with my personal life. I am not going to go into that, but I’ve been fighting a depressing period.

But aside from that, the job is actually looking up. I’m starting to develop very good and personal friendships with coworkers. While I was at my last command, I had a tremendous rapport and friendships with two guys in particular. We were like brothers and leaving there was very difficult for me and I know for them as well.

At this new site, one of the two guys I work with is very cool. I enjoy working with him very much. He has shown me the ropes and he is not overly demanding. He is my immediate boss but he allows me to work as I’m comfortable – with little supervision. I can’t stand micromanagement.

Another woman whom I work with (I’ll just call her L) is very cool too. She is very serious about her job, as I am. She gets done what she needs to get done but knows how to have fun in the process.

I’m still on a learning curve with institituional knowledge. All the technical B.S. that is site specific will take time but I’ll get there.

Glad your new job is working well — I’ve been busy, too — cramming in as much work as possible so I can take the summer off again. :-)

Aaron, hang in there. Life’s full of ups and downs, and this is no different.
