HIPAA Compliance in the Tech World

by Aaron Brazell on March 2, 2005 · 6 comments

Alot has been made of HIPAA – Health Insurace Portability and Accounting Act. The act protects patients from personally identifying information, such as names, social security numbers, etc being released. It forces doctors, agencies and vendors to protect patient information under possible federal penalty.

There’s an interesting thread over at Sitepoint that discusses some of the legal requirements and ramifications of doing web development under HIPAA regulation compliance.
