Vienna Trip

Posted by: Aaron Brazell

I’ve decided it would be very nice to take a trip to Vienna, Austria the week of October 1 to 9. So far the best package I’ve found has been through Yahoo! Travel for approximately $3000 for two. That includes airfare and lodgin only.

Anyone have any sources for reasonably priced vacation packages. Bonus points if you’ve had a good experience with the service. Even more bonus points if the service does not require all expenses paid at time of booking. Travelocity requires this. Yahoo! Travel does not.

Come on, folks! Spit out the recommendations. :)

Check out http://www.pinpointtravel.com via AOL. It is in beta but it searches every site imaginable!

Dude! That’s an amazing site. Found a flight on British Airways for $870/person… Haven’t booked but it looks great!

When I saw Vienna, I thought Vienna, VA, my hometown (although only until this summer, when I will anxiously move to Charlotte). LOL. :)

I assume you’ve already checked out Expedia.com and Priceline.com? Otherwise I’m fresh out of options for ya :)

yeah checked both. Expedia was quite a bit more expensive than everyone else but they provide a very large degree of customization (daily outings, etc). Priceline you never know what you’re going to get. Still the best deal I’ve found is with Yahoo! Travel…

For flights I try Expedia & Orbitz. Lastminutedeals.com is good. Also, indiviual airlines like United.com. I don’t know if Austria has a national airline but their office of tourism/state might also point you toward some ideas. I’m under weekly barrage from frequent flyer program deals, generally regarding next week to next month or season…October is a wee bit beyond but I’ve been keeping an eye out as I’ve been thinking about that area myself lately. Southern France, Switzerland, northern Italy…etc.

I looked at pinpoint and tried it to check for flights all over the US atleast, and I loved it enough to bookmark it for future use. I have seen it beat out even Orbitz but was surprised to see that it didn’t cover expedia. MS is “prolly” trying to corner the market in the travel biz too? LOL

Try expedia.co.uk. or lastminute.com. I have been happy with both. I used expedia on the Thursday before Easter and got a return flight to Glasgow from London for £88.00 all taxes included. Last year booking at the same time I paid £170.00 one way. (I forget the lessons I learn!) The flight was not on one of the ‘no-frills’ carriers too. I got lunch a drink and a newspaper. Wow!

Twitter pitching is a form of pitch that requires succint "what does this mean for me" kind of pitching. It is the ultimate efficiency of words. You have 140 characters or less to tell me why your pitch matters to me or my readers. Please include a means of contacting you. This is included in your 140 characters. If you send successive pitches, you will likely be ignored, unless it's obvious that the first pitch was a case of "accidental send", etc.

This form of pitching does not mean I'm being a diva. It means that my time is valuable, and you want a piece of it. It's good practice for you, and delivers your pitch in a format I want. Win-win.
