MCP Achieved

Posted by: Aaron Brazell

This past week, it became necessary to expedite that which I had already begun to do, if only a little. It became necessary to get an Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exam in a hurry — as in, this weekend.

So I have spent most of the past few days cramming for the exam. The trick is not in the subject itself. The subject I know. The trick is in the slick ways questions are formed and presented — and the even trickier phraseology often used, “what is the best solution?”

I passed. I was sweating, but I passed. Hopefully, things will pay off.

And now, I can proudly display this logo (not that I will)…

Microsoft Certified Professional Logo

PS… By the way, I would not recommend taking the approach I did and cramming exam prep into two days…

CONGRATS! I'm glad you keep updating and supersizing your resume. Though I hate it when company worships a piece of paper over 8 years worth of hands-on experience in the field! (I heard that's what happen last week in MID. Sucky sucky!

That's what happens when details aren't paid attention to in the writing of a contract that is binding. Unlike hats and boxers one size does not fit all in contracts and spitting out mumbo jumbo about needing certs without taking the time to understand the staff as it exists has caused more than one company to make the mistake that was made this past week. I think that perhaps they realized the problem but it was too late to change things.

Aaron congrats on the cert... Not that you needed it, but seeing what happened with the NMIMC contract it's good to have. This last screw up by the NMIMC leader-less-ship is going to hit them bad. I don't even think they realize how big a mistake they've made this time. Loss of years of institutional knowledge plus a low ball contractor is going to wreak havoc… I wouldn’t be surprised to see the new contractor out of there in less than a year… They just won’t be able to afford quality people with what they bid, plus needing to get everyone cleared… I feel sorry for the good folks who will have to live with the damage people like Foster, Wulf and Becker caused…

Frankly, the "good folks who will have to live with the damage" probably had alot to do with the provisions of the contract. As far as I'm concerned, the damage is done not only by the contractor but by the "good folks" who put the contract requirements out there without analyzing the status quo.
