Traffic Reports via RSS

The Yahooligans have done it again. Now you can get traffic reports via RSS. Enter the following URL into your feedreader:

1
http://maps.yahoo.com/traffic.rss?csz=11111&mag=4&minsev=2

Change the following variables in the url.

  • czs is your zip code
  • mag is the level of magnification (3 = 4 miles, 4 = 10 miles, 5 = 40 miles)
  • minserv is the minimum severity of the traffic condition (1 = minor, 2 = moderate, 4 = major, 5 = critical.)

For instance, this is my traffic report.

Alternatively, there is a nifty OS X Tiger Dashboard widget that does this. In my setup, I tap F2 and can get traffic conditions (not that I really need them as I work at home). :)
