Aaron I have got to applaud you for just bringing up the rant. As a black person I do understand where you are coming from. As I read your post I could help but to go back to last year and dealing with the house being broken into 3 times in 2 months. Now really what was it from? It was from something I di to someone in the neighborhood because I am rarely seen.
What it came from was simple our own race being jealous of all that we had here in the house. I was really pissed because of the sentimental value the things had. Each item represented a mark in my life that I didn’t have to hustle, rob, or steal to get. It was through a legitimate job that I was able to purchase one of those items.
But I fast forward to the many times I pulled up into a gas station, or walked into the corner store, or walked into the market or did any kind of shopping in a black area. I too have been greeted with the “Can I” or “Can you” questions. Now in church I am taught that helping someone is something God would want us to do. But in the worldly realm I stop to think about who I am helping. I see the same guys all the time in the same places begging.
And the truth be told they make way much more in a day that I do (if they are in the right place) but react real hostile when I say NO. Even as I write this I can help but to think about the stuff I go through to eliminate the stereo-type that all of us are the same. We are either PIMPS, HUSTLA’S, or HOES. But that is not of my doing that is of those who do think less of themselves.
For the record I LOVE ME. Always will. I know I will never be able to satisfy everyone and I will only reach perfection the day after I die. But while I am here I fight strongly for my beliefs and surround myself with people whom I can grow with. But for the many in my race that have given up I (and even the children moreso) suffer from it all.
I am so angered and at a lost for words now. But know I do feel you and I hope one day it wil change for the better.

Well said, Sean. It’s nice to have my own opinion reinforced by someone who is in the demographic I unloaded on… :)
