Crash Into Me, Yea…

No…not the Dave Matthews Song. I was in an accident this morning on my way between work sites. Travelling southbound, I made a move to pass a car on the right that was preparing to turn left. From the other lane, an old man driving a Camry decided to turn left into a parking lot. I don’t know if he wasn’t paying attention or didn’t see me or what, but he turned into the path of me passing the other car. I knew at that instance that there was no way to avoid a wreck and had the presence of mind to turn my car slightly to avoid a direct T-bone. I couldn’t swerve because of the positioning of the car I was passing but by me turning ever so slightly, I hit his car in the area of the back right wheel well. My car took damage as well. Alot of it. But for me, it was more of a glancing blow. Mosstly body damage. The windshield is cracked. All stuff that his insurance company will have to pay for since the man was found at fault.

As for the people involved… fortunately, no one is hurt. Just shaken. Heres some pics from my trusty cameraphone. Click for full size.

Hey dad! :)

Actually, I’m thinking about writing Ford and telling them how this car has been in three separate accidents, one head on, one sideswipe and one rear-ended, and in every case I’ve driven away and the other car had to be towed.

Think they’ll give me a new car? :D

I too am glad that you are okay and no one was hurt. But you should consider one of 2 options:

1. Go back to driving school
2. Catch the bus or somethin’.

No for real though I am happy that you are cool. Cars can be replaced but true friends can’t.

Holla back

Glad that no one was hurt. I noticed you mentioned “old man”. This confirms my theory - older people need to take driving tests or should stay off the road.

Yeah, but tell someone that their independence is at risk and they’ll fight it to the death. I’ve actually had this happen in my family recently, and it’s not the easiest thing in the world to tell someone.

Hope your injuries are minor and quick Aaron, and that you enjoy the valium your doctor gave you :). At least it doesn’t look like the car will be out of commission for too long.
