Playing for Last Place

This weekend has been a horrible sports weekend for me.

It started yesterday with Alabama suffering its first loss of the season to LSU in overtime. The Cinderalla season couldn’t have lasted, I guess and the silver lining is at least this year there doesn’t appear to be any massive celestial pow-wow of the BCS gods in the works. Should be a straightforward Rose Bowl pick with #1 USC and #2 Texas.

Alabama still is the odds-on favorite to win the SEC something which is no small matter.

Worse yet are the Baltimore Ravens which lost _again_ to drop to 2-7. In the AFC, it appears only teams with 10 wins or more will make the wildcard chase. Baltimore has no prayer, which means a paradigm shift in the minds of fans.

I’m rooting for losses right now. That’s right, I want the worst freakin’ record in the NFL. I want the Ravens to get spanked every game. But I want the defense to continue to perform admirably.\

Why is that?

It’s quite simple. April 2006. The NFL 2006 Draft.

If you’re a fan of the game on the field as well as off, mae sure you check out “Scott Wright’s Draft Countdown”:http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html.

Interestingly, as of right now, Baltimore would have the #6 pick overall, behind #1 Green Bay, #2 Houston, #3 Tennessee, #4 New Orleans and #5 New York Jets. I’m looking to go for that higher ranking. If we could snag Matt Leinart from USC or Vince Young, quarterback from Texas I’d be thrilled.

Also in the draft, the birds would have to sure up their offensive line which is heavily lacking. Why does Boller get sacked so much? Why do the Ravens have so many Holding penalties on the offensive line. Simply because they are being manhandled at the line.

By the way, Brian Billick is hostory in Baltimore. Though it pains me to say that because, historically, I have been a fan of Billick, he is simply running out of ways to make excuses for his pathetic offense. Something needs to change. I want Jim Fassel!!!
