Had a L’il Mishap

December 31, 2005

I just made a boo-boo. I was valiantly trying to cleanup my plugins folder in WordPress and issued the deadly:
-bash-2.05b$ rm del2wp *
What I meant to do was run rm del2wp* but alas, I added a space thus deleting ALL of my plugins and not just all the plugins beginning with del2wp…. Sigh.
I’ll let you [...]

Reflections on 2005

December 31, 2005

Happy New Years, everyone. It’s with mixed emotions I look back at the year gone by and, with excited anticipation, I look to the new year.
The past year has probably been the most difficult year I have ever gone through on a personal level. It started out well, as they all seem to. [...]

The 73 Lessons of SEO

December 31, 2005

Web Professor has out together an excellent list of lessons for SEO.
My favorites:
3. Online Marketing is where its at, and that should encompass SEO
11.Just because someone can argue well online doesn’t mean they know jack shit.
19. Just because a search engineer is nice, smart, witty and reasonably honest doesn’t mean he isn’t your adversary.
22. [...]

This is a cross post from Emerging Earth. EE has had the distinct pleasure of being added to Blogebrity’s C-List and a write-up to boot. Welcome to 2006!

With a note of pleasant surprise I opened my inbox and saw a trackback in moderation from Blogebrity. Blogebrity, as you may know, is sort [...]

ExtremeTech – Top Failed Tech Trends for 2005

December 30, 2005

While everyone is working on predictions for 2006, ExtremeTech has looked back at 2005 and picked the real lemons for the year that had such bright futures at the beginning of the year. Some may still have potential (High Def video on the PC) but some are just real turkeys.
My favorite turkey for 2005? iPod [...]

What NOT to do when you set out to travel this Holiday

December 30, 2005

I love browsing the The Drudge Report every morning. That happens to be a ritual of mine every day (among other websites and blogs) and I thought this article a very interesting read.
I haven’t used an airplane since 9/11 and quite frankly with all the security precautions, hassles, and headaches I’ve read and heard about, [...]

Feedburned

December 30, 2005

As I tinker more and make Technosailor more user friendly, I’ve implemented Feedburner as my feed of choice here at Technosailor. Of course, all you feed subscribers should notice no difference. If you do, let me know. The feed URL in use is http://www.technosailor.com/feed and that generally points to a WordPress generated [...]

Steve Rubel on Social Commerce

December 29, 2005

Steve Rubel has a nice write up for next year on the trend of Social Commerce
David Beisel had a nice write up that I blogged about here.
According to him, “Social commerce can take several forms, but in sum it means creating
places where people can collaborate online, get advice from trusted
individuals, find goods and services and [...]
