A minute on blogging

Posted by: Steven Fisher

This week, I have switched over to using Qumana as my editor. The beta QumanaXP is pretty good.

I do however like Performancing for Firefox. It is one of the coolest extensions and if you don’t have it and you have a blog, you must run and install this one.

I am working on a redesign of VentureFiles and I came across this great list of 10 things your blog site must have.

Most are no brainers, but the one that struck me the most was talking about other projects or blogs. I should talk about other stuff I am working on. It can only help draw traffic to the site.

In the process of redesign, I am disturbed by designs getting stolen. Problogger got his stolen but the community rallied against the guy that did it. I was looking at emulating a site I liked and the guy thought I was going to steal it. I am going to hire someone to leverage elements of various sites I like, but the overall design should be original.

Also been thinking about adding a newsletter to consolidate things. I think it would add dimension to the community I serve - Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs.

If you have any thoughts on how the new written format goes I want to hear. Also, if things should be emphasized more, let me know. I am trying to redesign so I can showcase other innovative entrepreneurs and publish a podcast soon.

We hope you like it (Qumana). I believe (but don't hold me to this .. no doubt it depends upon what/how you blog) that Q may be a bit more flexible or fully featured than Performancing, but yes, clearly, the designers and developers of Performancing have done a nice job.

Please feel free to enquire if you need support, and we really do suck up any feedback people care to offer.

        Twitter Pitch!

Twitter pitching is a form of pitch that requires succint "what does this mean for me" kind of pitching. It is the ultimate efficiency of words. You have 140 characters or less to tell me why your pitch matters to me or my readers. Please include a means of contacting you. This is included in your 140 characters. If you send successive pitches, you will likely be ignored, unless it's obvious that the first pitch was a case of "accidental send", etc.

This form of pitching does not mean I'm being a diva. It means that my time is valuable, and you want a piece of it. It's good practice for you, and delivers your pitch in a format I want. Win-win.
