Main Stream Blogging

Duncan makes an interesting observation:

I’ve always been a big supporter of concepts such as “the blogosphere”, however in the bigger picture, blogs and blogging is already becoming irrelevant because blogs are going mainstream, and people often see them as just websites and visit them for the content….as they really should.

Interestingly, I’ve been toying with the idea of giving up the word “blog” for Lent. I don’t usually observe Lent as I’m not Catholic, but “fasting” from the word “blog” seems appropriate. If I was paid a nickel for everytime someone stared at me in blank bewilderment when I told them “I blog”, I’d be a rich man today.

The reality is is that “blog” is jargon and thus it is meaningless to “common folk”. We run websites. We run personal websites. We run commentary websites. We run opinion sites. Do we have to run “blogs”?
