Iraq-American War: 2003-2006

I was astounded and pleasently surprised to see WaPo article citing George W. Bush himself:

President Bush vowed for the first time yesterday to turn over most of Iraq to newly trained Iraqi troops by the end of this year, setting a specific benchmark as he kicked off a fresh drive to reassure Americans alarmed by the recent burst of sectarian violence.

I commend the President for taking this stance. It is not so concrete that the date can’t changed if the need is there, yet it is concrete enough to reverse the pessimism in America (and the world) over Iraq.

    Aaron –

I wonder how much of this is coming on the heels of a new book being published. It basically stated that if the Pentagon and Centcom would have listened to their field commanders on the ground in the early days of the Iraq war and realized what was happening instead of ignoring them by playing armchair quarterback in the states we would have spent less time fighting this war and the insurgency.

Oh, David… you’re so cynical. Haven’t you learned already that cynicism is not allowed here? ;)
