Big Papi Ortiz Stays with the BoSox

I’m elated this morning to hear that David “Big Papi” Ortiz, the man who inspires Carole King to write “I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet” long before Ortiz wore the Red Sox jersey, has agreed to a 4 year $48 million dollar contract extension with the Sox.

I couldn’t see Ortiz in any other jersey and I’m really glad to see the Red Sox securing their future all around.

yes, football players are overpaid, but people don’t realize that their contracts aren’t guaranteed. Heck, most people don’t have a clue as to how NFL contracts work. Peyton Manning signs a 10 year 130 million dollar contract, and people go ballistic, but really he’s going to make about 30 million the first year, then 5 million a year for a few years before they redo his contract.

OTOH, when a baseball player signs a three year 30 million dollar contract, he’s probably going to play for three years at 10 million a year…

That would be BoSox caveman… Now that he’s with the Yankees he’s learning how to look and act like a gentleman… Besides all gentlemen look good in pinstripes…

Hey Mike– How does it feel to have as many wins as Tampa Bay?

A gentleman? I thought the new term was “Metrosexual.” He looked like a puppet on Letterman the other night, a Steinbrenner Puppet.

Nice to see you’re so excited after playing 6 games… Ask me again in September… Anything you want to wager? A bottle of single malt scotch sounds good…
