Paint Job

New day, new paint job, new potential.

Bear with me as I get the new look oriented. I hate to keep changing things but the last template was jut… limiting. And broken, apparently, for Safari users on the Mac.

I like it better, but your right bar is dropping below the content.

    Thanks Stacie. What OS/Browser/Resolution?

  3. Stacie 13 April 2006 at 8:48 am #

    IE 1024 x 678 laptop screen.

Alright I’ll be tweaking IE6 today. I only have IE7 at home(which renders perfectly) so I have to work with IE6 today.

I was to lazy to make my blog work perfectly with IE, so I just put this in at the top:

<!–[if IE]>Resiny.org does not support Internet Explorer. Life is simply too short. Browse Happy.<![endif]–>

I’m looking at it in Safari right now, and it looks alright to me…

The “Where Aaron Can Be Found” is a little wird…. not sure what it is but the links sink together a little to much.. Maybe something like

    That Damn PC

Here’s a screen shot of it in safari / webkit… picture taking Paparazzi!

    Oh,

And sorry for another post, but maybe you should make the “Posting your comment… ” text stand out just a little bit more ;) maybe add some rotating image or something… it kinda blends into “Leave a comment..” and I was like, wtf, why isn’t my comment posting ;)

  14. Aaron 13 April 2006 at 3:14 pm #

Thanks for the feedback, Eric. I’m pretty happy about Safari now that I’m seeing a screenshot…

  15. Jesse 13 April 2006 at 3:23 pm #

I’m (supposedly) doing some work at the library…the computer’s using IE 6, I’m pretty sure at 800 x 600. The whole site looks great except for the fact that on the main page the sidebar is dropping below the content. Probably fixed without too much work

  16. Aaron 13 April 2006 at 3:29 pm #

Oh well. Not even going to cater to 800×600. That decision is official now. Up until this version, I catered to 800×600. Looking at my stats, I could care less about 800×600.

  17. Jesse 13 April 2006 at 3:34 pm #

ala A List Apart (no pun intended)

I did the same thing myself, because it’s too much trouble, and because it’s people’s choice/responsibility to read my blog, not my responsiblity to make a blog customized to their needs and deliver it to them. If they want to hang around, cool, but if not I’m not going to kill myself over it

    (like the Ajax comments, btw)

  18. Eric Coleman 13 April 2006 at 3:36 pm #

    Aaron,

The screen shot I took is 800×600 (well, 1610 because of the length of your page), and it looks fine to me.

  19. Jesse 13 April 2006 at 3:39 pm #

Eric- you’re on Safari, correct? I think the problem is mainly an IE thing (huge surprise) and not as much a resolution thing, though it might display normally in IE at a normal resolution

  20. Eric Coleman 13 April 2006 at 3:51 pm #

    Yeah, Safari.

And Aaron, if you need any mac screen shots, drop me a line ;)

    Ah, much prettier!

It’d be nice if you could see the tiny links in the tag cloud… at least when focused… ;)

I gotta tell ya – the new look is nice. IE6 1024X768, laptop LCD. The old look was kinda jumbled together on the right side (comments, posts from other blogs, survey all ran together) – all with the same settings as above. I kept meaning to do a screen cap to send to you, but then you revamped.

Yeah Sean…. I know. It was driving me crazy to heave to hear about it all the time. One of the leading factors in refactoring things.

  1. Will You Reboot on May 1st?: ProBlogger Blog Tips - 26. Apr, 2006

[...] There’s been an unofficial holiday on the web for the past 6 years or so. It’s called the May 1st reboot and it refers to the date that web designers have chosen as “spring cleaning” day. The day is used to go through websites and apply a new design, or cleanup artifacts that have been left lying around the site. In just a handful of days, the blogosphere will play its own part in the May 1st Reboot and it’s being organized over at CSS Reboot. While I’ve already done my reboot a few weeks early, there are currently 1,319 signed up to participate in the CSS Reboot which offers no rewards save tons of exposure and potential for traffic. From their about page: The CSS Reboot is a community event for web professionals. May 1st, 2006 at 18:00 GMT Rebooters from all over the world will launch their web standards-based redesigns simultaneously, bringing traffic, interest and a little respect to their sites. There are no prizes or arbitrary winners, just great exposure and the knowledge that we all participated in something great. Of course, to reboot you don’t have to join up with the official site. Perhaps some spit and shine on your own or grabbing a ready made theme will do nicely. [...]
