Happy Easter

I’m feeling pretty anti-Easter this year. The only reason I am looking forward to going to church is to check it out for our wedding. I’m not happy with rabbits at this point because two nights ago, they feasted on my blooming tulips, petunias, and freshly planted bulbs. And I couldn’t think of anything to give up for Lent, so I decided to donate $40 to a local charity.

I remember in school watching the stations of the cross and each time the heavy cross hit the floor, it made me jump. Today, I think I can remember about half of the stations, and not even in order. Good Fridays always seem to be dark and gray, which I always found very appropriate.

So, whether you celebrate Passover, Easter, the pagean holiday of renewel and rebirth, or just sit in your home and sleep, I wish everyone a peaceful and enjoyable day. And to those who celebrate the Christian Easter, please take some time to remember it’s meaning.

Rabbit stew could be a pleasurable part of your Easter tradition.

Happy Easter to you too Stacie!

Your blog has inspired me to come out of the closet and share something with everyone…

A while back in an email, I disclosed to Aaron that I am a Mormon. He asked me a question that I thought was certainly fair he said, “Do you guys believe in Jesus Christ?”. I told him very much so.

The reason I brought it up was that one of his random “quotes of wisdom” had an authority from our church on it and I was surprised to see it.

I’m getting off topic, but I wanted to start somewhere ;)

Easter for my church is a HUGE moment for us simply because we believe that Jesus is still very much alive and continues to perform miracles daily.

If you ever happen into one of my church buildings, or even our Temples, you will notice that we do not display a cross. I have pondered that and asked, to which I am told that for many other Christian sects, they choose to wear the cross to symbolize Christ’s suffering and death during his crucifixion. We choose to focus on his miracle after his resurrection.

Perhaps you can look at that as a “glass is half full” mentality, but I like to believe that he truly has risen, he is alive to this day, and continues to bless those who truly follow Him.

    Happy Easter to everyone!

    :)

Without getting into the religious debate, you cannot see the resurrection without identifying with the Cross. There had to be death for there to be life. There had to be sacrifice in order for there to be redemption. Easter does celebrate the resurrection but Good Friday gives us a picture of “why”. Choosing not to recognize it seems to be denying half the faith.

I get your meaning Aaron, and I wasn’t trying to say we neglect the fact that he died for our sins, but we do not dwell upon it, or carry it with us because I think many people focus too much on his death, and not on the fact that he lives. That’s all :)

I think that it’s kind of neat that you don’t focus on the cross. So much in history, men have beaten it into people that God is mean and full of wrath. It’s good to focus on the good and happy times.
