Technosailor Birthday Blitz

by Aaron Brazell on April 15, 2006 · 15 comments

In a little over a month, I’ll be celebrating two years blogging and a certain tradition has erupted: The big birthday giveaway. This year, the prize is a $50 Amazon gift certificate for the winner, $20 certificate for the second place finisher and a $10 certificate for the third place finisher. If anyone else wants to sponsor the giveaway, I’d be happy to discuss sponsorship of the drawing.

Here’s the rules:

The winner will be determined based on a random drawing of all comments between now and May 19, 2006 11:59PM EDT. Only comments with 50+ words (in my judgement) will be considered for the grand prize drawing.

The second and third place winners will be chosen in similar fashions with minimum word counts being 30+ words for second place and 20+ words for third place. Tiebreakers will be determined randomly through a third party.

Last year’s winner was Mike and he won a Technosailor polo shirt (now unavail).

Oooh. A birthday giveaway. Kind of like in one of those Lord of the Rings books where Bilbo’s having a birthday, and gives presents to everyone who comes, not vice verca as it usually is….

Just to clarify- You take all comments between now and May 19th that are over 50 words, and then draw at random from them to see who wins?

Free stuff eh ;) These went over amazingly well when I did them at SitePoint. I’d imagine you’ll just use a simple PHP script to pick a random comment eh?

New design looks sharp, by the way (yes it’s been that long since I’ve been online :p)

I hope you put something out there that lights some fires… Lately your blogging has been lacking… Not much to put my teeth into… There’s quite a bit flying around on this immigration crap and the idea of conservatives sitting home in November. What’s your view on all this?

Mike, as far as I know, you still have author rights at this blog. In addition, you can contribute on Open Mic Fridays should you want to discuss issues that are not being discussed right now. As for me, I am in the middle of a major project for b5media right now and have chosen to not blog every hour on the hour. I usually blog everyday at least once but it might not interest you. That’s ok. That’s your preoragtive. I’m sorry that I can’t be all thing to all people but that’s why I am so liberal with allowing people to guest write. If you want to discuss a topic, step up and write a post. :)

Wow, I’ll be that I can get pretty wordy and write 50 word comments. This is really a neat idea. This is a really nice gesture for your readers and those who comment! I do think that Aaron does a great job and blogging current/hot topics. Immigration seems to be all over the news, so it’s good to see what other’s people’s feelings are.
