Video Blogger Makes Me Proud
This is sort of sentimental for me but I’ll share it anyway. Several years ago, my good friend Sean Crawford began blogging as a result of me. He watched me over time and decided that he too wanted to blog. I’m usually encouraged by this sort of thing but I don’t push blogging on people because I know it takes time, hard work and persistance.
For most of his two years of blogging, he has struggled in getting traffic attention, etc. Though there’s areas that I think he could still improve on. But the most important ingredient, passion, was there.
When I became the b5media Sports Channel editor, one of my first orders of business was drafting Sean for my team. He’s got a love for Boxing and Wrestling and so I thought he would be a good first addition to the team. So Jab and Grapple was born.
Recently, he started videoblogging fight predictions at J&G and I have to say it’s awesome. Then he brought his friend Bob into the game and we have a regular ESPN Fight Night commentary going on!
Darren picked up on it and with the visibility that comes with Darren’s linking, Sean’s on his way up.
I admit I’m proud of Sean. I know that at times blogging has been frustrating for him, but he has been persistant and pushed through. He’s gotten creative and tried various tactics (some unsuccessful) and I think he’s scored a hit now.
The only thing I would recommend at this point would to put some text in his entry along with the video so search engines and RSS readers can have a clue what’s going on and so Adsense can serve up respectable ads.
