What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? (or Now you’ve got VC money so you’re too good to blog anymore?)

by Aaron Brazell on October 10, 2006 · 40 comments

The most ironic part of the b5media VC deal last week is that by gaining the funding, I should be able to work full time on b5media, do my best as a Technology Channel editor as well as blog more frequently. Right?

Wrong. This past week, I gave my notification to Northrop Grumman that I would be leaving, effective October 18. Since that time, and no fault of theirs, I find myself over my head even more. This week happens to be the week that everything that could go wrong related to work, has. I am working through Friday and taking time off next week, so this week means that everything I need to do has to be done before Friday.

In addition, we have a large number of tasks to accomplish straightaway at b5 that are directly related to me as the Technology manager. For one, b5 has to figure out how best to, as a Canadian corporation, pay it’s American citizen/resident/taxpayer Technology Manager. To that end, my employment contract is still tied up with lawyers. Secondly, we have several hot items including a new b5media.com overhaul, that need to be done in the next 20 days. Thirdly, I have a new boss and still trying to get on the same page as him.

So, I’m slowly returning to normal blogging form, but to be honest, I may not be fully back until I quit NG and am full time with b5media. Argh.

Yeah, for real. 3 moves (49 people over 3 days), 12 meetings (over 4 days), 5 reimages (2 hours each) and a trainee that needs to taught 4 sites, before I leave. :)

I should really make sure that there is a clause in my employment contract that I can’t be fired for blogging on the job. :p

Ha… now that would be funny.

Keep up the good work technosailor… Just keep pluggin away at it and quit your bit… oh I better not say that lol

Not for real, things are a little weird cause you are heading into unchartered territory and don’t know what to expect. Remember you aren’t alone and you got some good guys in the same boat. Do your thing and work together and it’ll all be good.

With that said where did I set my beer…?

Oh there it is…

Why dont you hire a blogger to blog during the transition? Of course, I’d give you a freebie.

Soooo…I guess this wouldn’t be the best time to ask you to help me fix something that’s bothering me about my blog.

Yes, okay, well, there will be a dozen cupcakes thrown in if someone helps me fix the problem.

Good luck to you, Aaron! I can’t wait to see the wonderful things you do in your new job.
