One Phase of Life Wraps Up; a New One Begins

by Aaron Brazell on October 13, 2006 · 24 comments

Today, an era of my life ends and a new one begins. In late 1999, I began my professional career with Computer Sciences Corporation on a contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In 2001, I began learning PHP and started doing some freelance web design work. Later that year, CSC lost the CMS contract to Lockheed Martin and I continued my work with them. My job was not at all technical, but it provided some connections that ultimately landed me a job with Northrop Grumman on a Navy contract in Washington, D.C. I began this blog while working on that project. Early last year, shortly before losing the Navy contract, I transferred into my current job and became a valuable asset to the IT support team here. Late last year, I began working with b5media and earlier this month we landed investment funding. Today is my last day with Northrop and Monday I begin full time with b5media.

This marks the first time in my professional career that I’m not working in the military-industrial complex, the first time I’m working for a small company, and the first time that I’m working on something that I helped build. It’s special for me. I’m spending my last day wrapping up loose ends, seeing people for the last time and, in general, preparing for the next phase ni life. It’s exciting. Happy Friday!

Well I can’t promise that we’ll help you build battle ships, but I can promise that more often than not the work’ll be worthwhile, fun and that you’ll never lack something to do ;-)

Welcome to the team Aaron. I’m oh so glad to have you on board!

No, it’s just that battleships are no longer in style. Only the Iowa and Wisconsin still exist as commissioned ships. :-)

Congratulations on the change. I know what you’re going through – I’m at one of those “crossroads” in my life too and am looking forward to the change.

Sounds like an exciting time for ya. Make sure you get some free time to shoot some gobblers in the spring.

Know you will do great things for all of us at b5media. You have helped this rookie many times. Now if only you could get that Fantasy Team to win.
