Speedlinking: October 19, 2006

  • Internet Explorer 6 days are a thing of the past. Microsoft announced the final release of Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP yesterday. I’ve used IE7 since private beta days and I must say, Microsoft has done a smashup job with IE7. Please, please, please… if you’re an Internet Explorer user, go graduate to the next level of safety and security. Update: Looks like IE7 is vulnerable to some pretty amazing XSS trickery. Hat tip, Rsnake.
  • Techcrunch 8, the free party put on by Mike Arrington and company has been finally announced for November 16 at the BED club in NYC. I have my tickets reserved. Do you? There’s only 450 to be had.
  • Brian Clark of Copyblogger makes the argument that link baiting isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

      Ummm...

First security exploit already found. People all a-titter on both Digg *AND* Slashdot. ff & opera fanboys rejoicing, ie proponents making excuses. Grumpy people griping for the fun of it.

This is going to be one interesting ride...

I find IE7 to not handle graphics too well. IE6 wasn't too great either... more to come...

        Twitter Pitch!

Twitter pitching is a form of pitch that requires succint "what does this mean for me" kind of pitching. It is the ultimate efficiency of words. You have 140 characters or less to tell me why your pitch matters to me or my readers. Please include a means of contacting you. This is included in your 140 characters. If you send successive pitches, you will likely be ignored, unless it's obvious that the first pitch was a case of "accidental send", etc.

This form of pitching does not mean I'm being a diva. It means that my time is valuable, and you want a piece of it. It's good practice for you, and delivers your pitch in a format I want. Win-win.
