Mac Tip Series: Exposé Usage
Exposé is one of those cool things that Mac does well. For long time Mac users, it’s not anything earth shattering but for folks coming from the Windows world, it is absolutely a stunning work flow enhancer. For those of us from the Windows world, the primary method of switching between apps is Ctrl-Tab. This method works on the Mac, but with Exposé, it becomes downright cumbersome.
Exposé allows a user to trigger a mashup of all open windows for selection. My trigger is the mouse in the lower left or lower right corners of the screen. Others use mouse buttons (say, the side buttons on the Mighty Mouse) or hot keys. Being able to switch between open applications in this way seriously enhances my workflow.

As a hat tip to the old Ctrl-Tab trick, when Exposé is active, you can hit the Tab button to bring one App to the front.

I wouldn’t call the Apple-tab app switch cumbersome. I often find if I’m switching between two windows in two apps then a quick switch between apps (app-tab) works great – and have you noticed that the order of the apps in that line changes so the most recently switched from is always next on the right? Now that in itself is a very cool nuance.
But yes, exposé is wonderful, particularly as it still updates windows live whilst in that mode.
