Mac Tip Series: RSS Feeds on a Screensaver

Buried deep inside the system preferences of Mac OS X is an option to allow your screensaver to display RSS feed headlines. Again, for long time Mac users, this is not overly earth shattering, but it’s kinda cool anyway. It made my day for a few hours, especially when I was at Ad Tech and wasn’t using my computer. I could display headlines from our yet-to-be-publicized Megafeed.

Say you wanted to display my RSS feed, for instance. There are two steps in this process.

Now, in System Preferences (in the Apple Menu):

  • Select Desktop & Screensavers
  • Choose the Screensaver pane
  • Select RSS Visualizer from the menu
  • Click the Options button
  • Choose the RSS feed from the bookmark list.

Now, just for the hell of it, take a Test run.

Enjoy! :-)
