Atlanta got 1/4" of snow Wednesday night. The evening news showed people buying kerosene heaters and emergency food supplies. Schools were preemptively canceled almost 18 hours in advance. Hardware stores sold out of salt. Thursday morning's rush hour was a breeze.

Having lived in the Midwest US and eastern Europe I have seen plenty of snow, absolutely LOVE driving on ice and have never let inclement conditions stop me. I've never been frightened of a snowstorm; I am however plenty scared of my southern neighbors who put their lives on hold rather than buy an ice scraper.

This is why I live in California... no snow. (I moved back to LA from Chicago this last May, do NOT miss the snow).

An actual shoe tip, from the girl at Dr.shine and Repair, if you have to trek out in boots and they get salt on them, please wipe them off to protect from salt stains. Use a solution of one part white vinegar and four parts water if you can. This tip is only for smooth leather boots, NOT SUEDE.
