Some of the most successful people I know got that way by following their dreams through tough times like the crashes in 2001 and 1987. If your idea is good enough and you don't need pesky things like health insurance for your kids you should still go for it (especially if you don't need much outside help from VCs and the like); the rewards could be a lot greater when good times return.I'm in a “stable job” and have been for yearsnow , though I wouldn't call any job “stable” with confidence given current trends. But I need the insurance too :)

Very sorry to hear that, Randy. Keep your chin up. Or take the opportunityto go solo. Not recommended, as I said, for someone already in a job, but ifyou lose your job it could be the safest and most sane thing. Won't be easythough.

I just lost my job last week and am in the horrible situation of trying to find a new one. Very hard on the ego! I've never ever left one job without having another one lined up. This is scary business.
