Thanks for weighing in, Rajat -- It *is* about decisions, and obviously yours was to go 'big.' The rewards can be correspondingly big -- I hope it works out for you! /Ray

Hey Ray -

Good post, and you're absolutely right about the different agendas that founders and investors sometimes have. But once you, as an entrepreneur, have chosen the investor route, you've also chosen to make a successful exit your primary goal. I made that decision back in 2006, so there was no gut-wrenching with the recent addition of Peter Daboll as our new CEO.

Building a great product, a great team, and a great customer base are necessary (and fun) parts of achieving the exit goal, and if there's anything I can do to accelerate our velocity and increase our odds in any of those areas, I won't hesitate for a second. I met Peter and knew I had to have him on the team. My title and "control" are irrelevant - he adds rocket fuel to the company.

re: "Chief Product Officer" - I tried to get them to give me the title Jr. Software Engineer, but they didn't think anyone would take me seriously. In actuality, for the time being I'm still running product management, engineering, qa & ops. If you have a better title, I'm all ears :) My business cards just say "Founder".

best, - rajat
