Good choice with wordpress, it is far superior to what blogger offers.

I stumbled upon this site and Thomas's through a grapevine of twitter links. Not trying to spam the comments at all but I couldn't help but think the design has similarities to mine http://www.rikinontheweb.com. I use Thesis Theme however and mine is still a work in progress since I started it earlier this month.

I guess Thomas and I must have a really similar taste in design. Hats off to you both.

I'm in almost the same boat as you, Aaron, but the waters aren't quite as choppy. I'm in the waning weeks of unemployment with not much in sight unless I want to accept $50 for writing 10 "well-researched" blog posts. That's what I'm up against, and, seeing some of the bids submitted for technical work on one of the freelance sites I use, I suspect you're seeing the same.

I'm a writer. That's what I do. That's what I've done since the age of 15. But I wonder more every day to what extent I'll ever be able to do it again professionally for a decent wage.

I'm luckier that you in that my husband landed a job that will make up a big chunk of my lost income - I've always been the primary bread-winner - if it works out. I'm not an overly religious person, but I pray every night that it does, because if it doesn't, I don't know what we're going to do either.

Sadly, I am in no position to help you, but if misery loves company, there's on helluva party going on right now.

As for the rest of your post - I kind of responded to this one backward, didn't I? - I don't completely understand the technical end, but I decided long ago that I don't have to. I just have to understand the theory and working principals and know what's do-able. Thanks for the excellent explanation.

Thomas: I'm just pleased to keep learning from you. While I've certainly put out photography I'm proud of, I'm still learning and whether you realize it or not, I'm learning from you... though I certainly think I take a lot of influence from street photographers and mix it with your neon/motion modes. :)

Aaron, thank you so much for the great work that you did on my blog. I can't say how happy enough that I am with the job that you did. From a very satisfied customer this is a ringing endorsement and I hope you get the consulting work that you need in the next few days. You do great work and WordPress is a *great* platform.

Nice job on the migration. The new site looks great and all the prior links work. Established sites definitely need the help and skills of someone such as yourself when making a move.

Unfortunately, I've also experienced problems with caching. But my dynamic content and fears of what will happen to Google indexing have kept me away from that plugin. Wish the WordPress team would make some optimizations - this is far more critical than a visual refresh of the Dashboard in my opinion.

By the way, Thomas is a great dude. I just worry he's going to confront the wrong person when denied pics somewhere. ;)
