Happy Memorial Day!
Hopefully, by now, everyone is having a great long weekend, time spent with family and friends, and enjoying the sun. I decided that I wanted to do something different this year. I went to Antietam National Battlefield which is about an hour north of where I live outside of DC. I brought my camera and tweeted informative nuggets for people about the battle. The goal was really to get people to think about why we have a holiday in the first place… those who fought to defend this country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

I went to Antietam National Battlefield many years ago on a first date with a guy. I had never heard of it before. It was very sobering. Not great first date material! Was this the first time you had been there? I’ve only been there that one time myself.
I went years ago as a kid. Hadn’t been back since so the fresh perspective from adult eyes was worth it.
Great photos. We often times take memorial day for granted, we have so many freedoms and many Americans simply don’t care of understand the importance of what people have done for us in the past. I want to go see the memorial wall
