It is hard to believe that people working in the IT industry will be as volunteerly cooperative as President Obama suggests. When I worked with IT people, I got the strong impression that they protected what they knew, so on one would steal their ideas. But they protected what they didn't know even stronger - so they wouldn't be exposed as lacking some skills or knowledge others expected them to possess. Sure, I realize this kind of collaboration is important to national security, but working for the good of all mankind still only happens on Star Trek.

I was able to watch his speech this morning on Cspan. I am glad that this is becoming a larger focus, because if the tables ever turn or we acquire more major enemies we need a safer communication channel. I am republican, but I believe that Obama has a lot of good ideas, and some things I really disagree about.

I agree about the scholarships and grants, unfortunately Math is america's weak spot, many other countries are much more advanced per capita than america.

Didn't China just come out with a new operating system that is apparently very advanced and secure?

We definitely need incredibly redundant cyber & system security, and we also need to take nuclear attacks in to consideration for data storage of major institutions like NYSE, CIA, and all major organizations. I would like to see Data stored in many different states for pertinent information - which is probably already done.

It's scary hearing that Iran believes Israel and America should be wiped off the map, North Korea is nutty too.

Thanks for the article, Rachel. I'm a little concerned about his ability to find competent leadership to fill the role of Czar. As we both know, a civil servant of the caliber and level of experience is going to go for a much higher dollar figure in the private sector. MUCH higher.
