Very incredible indeed. It is amazing how far civilization has progressed in the past 200 years... From the light bulb, to the automobile, to air conditioning, the computer and beyond. The human brain has accomplished things that have changed life forever technologically.

For some of us who grew up with the race to space and watched the landing live the awe we felt remains vivid, and the shuttle launches still revive the excitement of the day. Looking due East we can watch the fiery trail of the launches from Canaveral with The NASA feed on the wide screen continuously through the spacewalks. Commitment to a goal previously unimaginable. The proof that we can.

The funny thing is that NASA has been a part of our nation's financial stimulus package for decades.

Since these early Apollo explorations, NASA and its many contractors have provided research and development in diverse fields of science, engineering and technology and thousands of desirable jobs across all regions of our country.

Reducing the space program will potentially result in a shift to less technological research being funded and lower paying short term job replacements.

Neat picture, it is incredible that we were able to accomplish this. If you told someone 200 years ago that we would fly out of the world and land on another planet, they would have said we were NUTS!

Amazing to think what they achieved 40 years ago. It's a shame the cost of launching into space is still so high. Until a cheap method of launching into space is found, 'The Final Frontier' will remain largely unexplored.
