Memorial Day, 2008. Time to remember, but a time for action by this government.
It was a great weekend. My wife and I took my 2 year old son to Andrews Air Force base for an air show Joint Forces Open House, a major recruiting effort if we want to be honest. However, it was a blast and I wasn’;t being recruited. Been there, done that.
Here’s a [...]

A few days ago, I asked “Why the jet?” Why did I put the jet in my header. I offered a $10 Amazon gift certificate to anyone who could guess why but no one (except some b5′ers that knew from reading the internal forum) came up with the right answer.
The answer is, of [...]

This is biased, but what we are seeing today from the U.S. Military operations in Louisiana. Sure the orders came 72 hours late, but finally we are seeing the proof that the greatest fighting force in the world, capable of delivering destruction with deadly precision, overthrowing the Taliban in Afghanistan in under 6 weeks after [...]

After Hurricane Katrina struck the gulf coast earlier this week, I was in shock when martial law was declared. I don’t rememeber martial law ever being declared in the United States, but I know it has happened a few times.
At first I was opposed. Never since the civil war has the American military been used [...]

For the record, folks…
Memorial Day is the day we remember the service men and women who have died in wars, foreign and domestic, defending their country.
Veterans Day is the day we remember all who have served or continue to serve in the armed forces.
There is a difference. :)

I found this image while looking for graphics for the Technosailor “new look” that will be forthcoming in the next few days. I laughed. So I share:

Hello devoted TECHNOSAILOR readers…it me GEMINI 38 (formally The Angry Black Man) filling in on a special request for my brother. I see there have already been a couple of guess entries on Memorial Day so I will drop just a quick blurb.
Memorial Day has a more personal meaning for me because it is my [...]

Okay. The CIA is engaging in Operation Silent Horizon, a three day wargame meant to simulate a cyber terror attack on th United States. A cyberattack would cripple much of the U.S. economy, including government and corporate entities that rely on internetworking to function. Although reports apparently keep cyber terrorism on a low-risk assessment, my [...]
There was a picture that was featured on the front page of the paper edition of The Washington Post this morning. It was a very uncharacteristically sympathetic photograph for the Post to publish in regards to the Iraq war. The same photo was aired in both online and paper editions of The Washington Times.
This is [...]

Well now, this is a change…well at least a policy change. ;)
Apparently, the Army is running an experiment that would give ecstacy to its soldiers who are suffering from the syndrome that was called shellshock in World War I, Combat Neurosis in World War II and Korea, Combat Fatigue in Vietnam and Post-tramautic Stress Syndrome [...]

This week has been a big change for the new media and, indeed, the tides of journalism and influence have turned.
Eason Jordan, the head of CNN, was forced to resign over a comment made in Geneva, Switzerland. Not surprisingly, the MSM chose not to report, or even hold to account, the outrageous comment which pointed [...]

DALLAS—Eight soldiers flying home from Iraq for two weeks of R&R flew in style instead of coach after first-class passengers offered to swap seats with them.
“The soldiers were very, very happy, and the whole aircraft had a different feeling,” flight attendant Lorrie Gammon told The Dallas Morning News in Thursday’s editions.
The June 29 seat-swap on [...]
In regards to this post, upon calling the former recruiter he immediately called my recruiter and told him where the paperwork was. So in other words my recruiter was lying to me.
{rolleyes}

I’ve been waiting on an age waiver for the Navy’s nuclear program. When I enlisted in March, all the paperwork was acquired for the waiver program including transcripts from high school and college. The Petty Officer in charge of my recruiting had gone to the various schools to pickup the transcripts necessary to submit the [...]
