Lord of the Rings fans can look forward to a brand new book, The Children of Hurin, which will be released on Apr 17, 2007. This book was edited by Christopher Tolkien, son of the legendary J.R.R. Tolkien who wrote the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit. Chistopher Tolkien has managed his father’s legacy since Tolkien’s death and is known for penning the The Silmarillion, best synopsized as the lore and history of Middle Earth predating the Lord of the Rings.
I am proudly one of the fans that knew and understood Lord of the Rings long before Peter Jackson came around and made a movie out of it. So, I’ve already preordered The Children of Hurin which tells the tales Nienor and Túrin, a tragic tale of love and suicide many thousands of years before Lord of the Rings. In fact, I think it was in Middle Earth’s First Age (LotR was the end of the Third Age).
