New Tolkien Book To Be Released Shortly

Lord of the Rings fans can look forward to a brand new book, The Children of Hurin, which will be released on Apr 17, 2007. This book was edited by Christopher Tolkien, son of the legendary J.R.R. Tolkien who wrote the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit. Chistopher Tolkien has managed his father’s legacy since Tolkien’s death and is known for penning the The Silmarillion, best synopsized as the lore and history of Middle Earth predating the Lord of the Rings.

I am proudly one of the fans that knew and understood Lord of the Rings long before Peter Jackson came around and made a movie out of it. So, I’ve already preordered The Children of Hurin which tells the tales Nienor and Túrin, a tragic tale of love and suicide many thousands of years before Lord of the Rings. In fact, I think it was in Middle Earth’s First Age (LotR was the end of the Third Age).

  1. Ok I’ll be the first to admit it… I’m a big Tolkien nerd. The LOTR trilogy was great, but the Silmarillion was 100x better. And, of course, Turin was my favorite charactor. I’ll definitely be picking this one up – thanks for the heads up Aaron.

  2. I am Blood-Stain son of Ill-Fate, with the publication of this epic tragedy many new people will be exposed to Beleriand, which might not have happened without it. Hopefully, the tale is completed in such a fashion as to shed a light on the nobilty of the fathers of men, unlike the craven, pathetic, piece of garbage the portly Jackson called the Return of the King, I am in favor of this publication.
